GROUP 5: Telling The Time

THE FIRST GROUP OF THE WEEK IS
... My group. Yay!

Our topic is pretty simple indeed, but I promise we tried to make it entertaining for the students. The very first thing that we did was introduce the topic to the students: telling the time.

Miriam is the one who started the class. The warm-up was very simple, it consisted of a human knot, students were instructed to hold their hands but crossed, then try to find a way to unknot their hands and create a normal circle. We, the teachers, joined them AND this was a secret, but we already knew the solution for the game but we remained quiet haha. Anyway, the students find a way to solve it by themselves.

That was very funny anyway.

Once the activity finished, Fernando started the class by explaining the difference between "clock" and "watch". I LOVE how Fernando teach! You can tell how appasionated he is when it comes about teaching. He also taught the difference between analog clock and digital clock.

Then he made the students participate in a quick activity regarding how to read both analog and digital clocks.

ACTIVITIES

We had two activities for that class: the first consisted of the students taking a colored paper from a box, there were two identical pairs for each color and the person who had a specific color would have another person with that same color as a partner, in that way they would both have a conversation talking about their daily activities at certain times of the day. This activity was elaborated by Daniela.

The following activity was elaborated by me.  In this activity the students would be taught by repeating a sentence in different contexts, for this I asked them to check the papers that I had glued below under their desks, one of the papers would be the one that would be selected by the person who would read all the sentences in different contexts and the rest of the papers were curious facts about the world's schedules.  I would have liked everyone to read aloud the curious facts that I put on each piece of paper but unfortunately there was no time.

The last activities were created by Nathaly and Marian.

In one of the activities, the students were paired with different people; each couple was given an analog watch which could be modified manually.  One of the people in the couple would have to grab a piece of paper with a time written on it and say it out loud, and the other person would have to know how to set that time on an analog clock. It makes me laugh a little that Nathaly admitted that even she didn't know how an analog watch worked hahaha.

The next activity was focused on boys versus girls.  They did make a group of boys and girls separately in which they would be told a time and they would have to write it completely in letters, I mean, avoid numbers to express the time. I don't remember who won.

The last activity consisted of bingo. Just like a bingo there was a giant bingo board on which people would stick a colored paper corresponding to the word that had been said out loud. Once again, I don't know who won but I was very funny.

Ç'est fini.

My friend, one of our students, posted this. 🥺
Honestly, this was extremely sweet. This made me really happy!!

Also notice how iconic I look in that dress 💋 Slay!!

Students had a lot of fun playing this. Although I did not get the ideas lol.  First topic: DAILY ROUTINE  Once the warm-up finished, Noe started giving the class: daily routine vocabulary. Within this vocabulary, different phrases were included such as: Go to ...

𝐆𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐏 𝟒❟ 𝐑𝐄. 𝐈𝐈𝐈: Daily Routines

The very first thing that Group 4 did was explain the agenda. Good!  The warm up was LA PAPA CALIENTE ! A simple but effective activity. Jessica gave the instructures in Spanish for students' comfort. The music choice sent me 😭 Baby Shark for the folks!  The student who keep the market after the music stop will talk about her/his routine in an certain scenario. Jessican giving the instructions Gus was playing dumb with the market haha Then Jessica proceed to explain the basic structure of the Simple Present tense.  Sorry for the bad quality pics, I was far from the whiteboard. 😭 Then, the next teacher started to read out loud different sentences and words related to daily routines. Once the reading section was over, they watched a video related to the topic. After that, the teachers handed work sheets to the students. Nat asked Nat to read the parragraph on the work sheet. Students were instructed to look for the answers for the questions. Eventually all the students re...

LAST GROUPS!

Welcome back to this humble blog!  This is the last entry of this long journey together. :')  The first group explained the topic: THERE IS AND THERE ARE!  I loved how they implemented different techniques for this lesson. Students even practiced writing and listening skills during this class by using worksheets and media to give this lesson. For the second class, teachers taught about TIME!  Gaby opened this class! I'm so happy to see her again. She was wearing a funny hat for a purpose... She said that this class would be Alice in Wonderland themed!  The Class Just like the last class, this lesson was focused on a review of the previous classes BUT with a different perspective. Teacher Karla started her block by asking to the students about phrases about time such like: "El tiempo vuela" In English, we have: Once in a while, time's up, waste of time, on the last minute, running late, etc...  I like that they not only write the phrases but the meanin...
