LAST GROUPS!

Welcome back to this humble blog!  This is the last entry of this long journey together. :')  The first group explained the topic: THERE IS AND THERE ARE!  I loved how they implemented different techniques for this lesson. Students even practiced writing and listening skills during this class by using worksheets and media to give this lesson. For the second class, teachers taught about TIME!  Gaby opened this class! I'm so happy to see her again. She was wearing a funny hat for a purpose... She said that this class would be Alice in Wonderland themed!  The Class Just like the last class, this lesson was focused on a review of the previous classes BUT with a different perspective. Teacher Karla started her block by asking to the students about phrases about time such like: "El tiempo vuela" In English, we have: Once in a while, time's up, waste of time, on the last minute, running late, etc...  I like that they not only write the phrases but the meanin...

GROUP 6: There is, there are.

What most characterized the class of this group was the oral aspect because from the beginning the teachers focused on introducing the topic in Spanish, mentioning the meaning of "there is" and "there are", allowing students to grasp its practical usage by encouraging them to ask questions about objects present in that space, in the classroom. This can be a topic that can be confusing for first-time students, but they knew very well how to explain the differences.  I want to highlight the use of Spanish in this class because I think is very important! As teachers, is very important to know when to use our mother-tongue and when to use the target language.  I liked Kenneth and Mauricio way to express. They both have strong and hard-to-ignore voices.  In the activities, student participation was quite focused, because after the teachers fully explained the grammatical aspects of the topic (including the past and present way of talking about objects located in an space...

GROUP 5: Telling The Time

THE FIRST GROUP OF THE WEEK IS ... My group. Yay!  Our topic is pretty simple indeed, but I promise we tried to make it entertaining for the students. The very first thing that we did was introduce the topic to the students: telling the time. Miriam is the one who started the class. The warm-up was very simple, it consisted of a human knot, students were instructed to hold their hands but crossed, then try to find a way to unknot their hands and create a normal circle. We, the teachers, joined them AND this was a secret, but we already knew the solution for the game but we remained quiet haha. Anyway, the students find a way to solve it by themselves.  That was very funny anyway. Once the activity finished, Fernando started the class by explaining the difference between "clock" and "watch". I LOVE how Fernando teach! You can tell how appasionated he is when it comes about teaching. He also taught the difference between analog clock and digital clock.  Then he made ...

𝐆𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐏 𝟒❟ 𝐑𝐄. 𝐈𝐈𝐈: Daily Routines

The very first thing that Group 4 did was explain the agenda. Good!  The warm up was LA PAPA CALIENTE ! A simple but effective activity. Jessica gave the instructures in Spanish for students' comfort. The music choice sent me 😭 Baby Shark for the folks!  The student who keep the market after the music stop will talk about her/his routine in an certain scenario. Jessican giving the instructions Gus was playing dumb with the market haha Then Jessica proceed to explain the basic structure of the Simple Present tense.  Sorry for the bad quality pics, I was far from the whiteboard. 😭 Then, the next teacher started to read out loud different sentences and words related to daily routines. Once the reading section was over, they watched a video related to the topic. After that, the teachers handed work sheets to the students. Nat asked Nat to read the parragraph on the work sheet. Students were instructed to look for the answers for the questions. Eventually all the students re...

𝐆𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐏 𝟑❟ 𝐑𝐄. 𝐈𝐈𝐈: Simple Present

Hello! Welcome to the third entry of this register. This week, we started with GROUP 3, Simple Present. The very first thing they did was introduce the name of the topic, and a brief introduction of the structure of Simple Present in its affirmative form. Josh explaining the base structure. ACTIVITY Once he finished, another teacher, Jonathan, run an activity. For this activity, students were instructed to stand up and say what actions they heard from an audio. ACTIVITY The next activity was also focused on listening, writing and share answers. For this one, Brenda was in charge. But before they play the audio, the students received a sheet aimed to be filled with the right answers.  This audio was about a man and a woman talking about their daily routine. Brenda giving the instructions Christiaaaan? 🧐 I liked a lot that teachers were checking on students while the activity was carrying on. Also, Brenda took her time to answer questions about vocabulary and more.  Jonat...

GROUP 2, REGISTER 3: Simple Present, affirmative, negative and questions.

October 12th, the second group of the day.  This is a special class because my folks are the teachers yeees.  And these are EXCLUSIVE shots behind cameras.  Cutting paper!  Maru's smile is cute WARM-UP ACTIVITY  The first activity was a warm-up activity where everyone was asked to stand up, remember and repeat the routine of the person next to them, then say their own routine and basically create a chain of activities. I may say, these students have such a good memory! I could never haha.  And they had a lot of fun together. :)  FIRST TOPIC: SIMPLE PRESENT They start to explain the topic with the base form of this verbal tense. Then, the teacher (Maru) explained the affirmative way, the negative way, and how to elaborate questions in this verbal tense.  What I liked a lot, once again, is that the teacher (Maru) took the time to explain in both languages the main keys for understanding the topic, yet she kept in her role of being the English teache...

My daily routine. Wrap up: Russian roulette.  What's Charades? It's a game where different teams participate and their members try to communicate ideas, words, or actions using corporal language and gestures without using verbal words.  A student playing Charades. Students had a lot of fun playing this. Although I did not get the ideas lol.  First topic: DAILY ROUTINE  Once the warm-up finished, Noe started giving the class: daily routine vocabulary. Within this vocabulary, different phrases were included such as: Go to ...
